Say Goodbye to the Wolfpack In Hangover Part 3

Bangkok, Mexico and Vegas! One crazy ride.

Mr. Chow breaks out of a far eastern prison. Alan's father is dead. The Wolfpack wants to send Alan to rehab. That is where Marshall comes into things. Chow stole a lot of money from Marshall. He wants it back. He wants the Wolfpack to get it for him.

If you have seen one Hangover movie you have seen them all. That doesn't mean each new installment isn't funny. This surely is. However, each gag feels increasingly tired. Chow's cocaine references particularly, and his laugh, grow old.

Lots of previous characters come back to make a cameo. I was disappointed that there weren't any photos during the end credits. But, considering this one didn't involve anyone having amnesia it wouldn't make much sense. The movie seemed a little muted for a sequel. Most sequels suffer from a desire to be many times bigger than their predecessors. Look at the Matrix films, or the Pirates of the Caribbean films for reference. This felt more like saying hello to some old friends, reminiscing about grander past adventures.

No Mike Tyson in this one. :-(

*** 3 stars.
